water is life

As most of the world strives to do nothing but to serve themselves, i've found great joy in serving others.
the opportunity for me to actually make a difference has been placed at my feet.
a nonprofit humanitarian organization called Care for Cambodia is in need of my help.
funding and building a clean water supply for the remote and severely desolate villiages is the task at hand.
to all those that read this, if you want to help let me know and i'll make sure that even the slightest contribution finds it's proper home.
Water is life.
I aim to save a few.

long time no write.

Thursday, December 21, 2006

you walk in and the first thing you hear is, well, let me explain...
this is never a good start for the morning, or even in any circumstance, right?
if it's followed with, this is the plan, i'm a little more at ease.

you stop and think about your options at this point...
exhaust all possibilities and hope for the best is how I roll...

the day continues and you give 110%
others are having a normal mundane Thursday but not you...
you run until you can't breathe...
people aren't pulling their weight and you end up pulling theirs as well as your own...
the remaining energy that you may still have could be used in one of two ways at this point,
a. anger at others lack of work ethic and effort
b. become excited that it's over and you get to go home now.

not everyday can be a walk in the park.
it's your decision whether you're going to let it get you down.

Assumption is the Devil

Why do people think they can get away with CRAP?

EXAMPLE:

Employers that decide to schedule you outside your availability.

You tell them when you can work then they schedule you outside your availability and when you confront them about it, the answer you get is "I wasn't aware of that."

QUESTION: Why fill out an availability form for a reference if the person that's supposed to use it doesn't actually apply the data? How could you possibly be unaware?

ARGGGGGGhhhhhh!!!!!

Granted, I do realize that the task of doing a schedule for over 100 employees that all have different needs etc. Is no easy task nor one that anyone wants. Technology has come a LONG way. Now our availability is plugged into a computer and the only human involvement is to adjust it accordingly to the specifications on the availability Form we've previously filled out.

Whatchu thinkin? If there is any mention of working extra to help out the assumption automatically is that you can work everyday all day.. Lost in translation. I said that I wanted to discuss the possibility of doing so. You give them an inch they assume they can take a mile. Why? You should know that will only make it so that I won't want to "volunteer" or "help" your cause in the future. Don't you see that?

Please, if you can do one thing for me, Never Again play the Dumb Card. What a waste of intelligence. If you're going to be a liar, become a clever one. Use vocabulary or extensive elaboration. Creativity people, it's not a bad option.

Oh, I see. You can't do that because that would require an original thought. That's not part of the "programming" that you get when you become a manager. That also means that you're an individual and not part of the collective, aka CORP. You wonder why I don't want to have any part in that cup of tea? You obviously don't know who you're dealing with.

Are my request extremely outlandish to be considered?

Is it really too much to ask?

In my own defense:
I'd like to mention that I really would do anything to help another human being out in a heart beat. I honestly do like people in general and want to make the world a better place if at all possible. This is my voice to the world and to refine it I write it out.

Distracted much?

I find that time and time again I fill my life with things that don't really matter.
distractions.
at times, there are so many different things going on that they overlap and collide.
Where is there any time left for me?
The sacrifice of "me" time takes it's toll eventually and I tend to shut down.
that's not very productive...
Another thing that I noticed is that people in general like to distract themselves with their futures or even their pasts so much so that they waste today.
How can you ever get where you want to go if you're either looking backwards or lost in a distant future?
Gleaned wisdom from your past can give you an idea where not to step in today and a sure footing in your tomorrow.
Planning ahead is good, don't get me wrong but in the case of a person with their head in the clouds, not so good. Some of us become stagnant in our present because we're so distracted by our pending futures and wishful thinking.
I constantly have to check myself, where am I going, am I actively taking the right steps to get there, am I making any progress, don't forget what I've learned from past experiences, don't repeat past mistakes, etc.
Remember yesterday, enjoy today, and look forward to tomorrow.

TIME

we all look at it differently.
some say that time speeds by too quicky, moves too slow or can't be fast enough.
what is it for you?
how do you measure it?
years? day? minutes? birthdays? milestones?

Why wear a mask

Why wear a mask?
Is mediocrity enough?
most of us are daily wearer's of a mask or costume of sorts.
our true potential hanging just within our reach but never grasped and or embraced.we hide our faces as to protect ourselves from failure or rejection possibly.
are those consequences really all that horrible?
are they really consequences or opportunities in disguise?
we wear a costume to pretend that we're something we're not even for just a moment.
for some these items they place upon themselves give them the liberation from an otherwise, in their mind, boring or less than par self.
why is it that cloth, a wig or mask can set you free?
is this just the easy way out?
is it really more difficult to keep the mask off and find the same liberation?
I say yes.
with so many variables pulling us in all different directions it's almost impossible to find balance and a center.
Almost, being the key word there.
you can make a list of all the millions of things that are Almost impossible.
if you look at the word IMPOSSILE the "IM" is the smaller part of the word and "possible" is the better half of the word.
Person One: dwells on the latter portion of this two word defeatist, impossible, may never accomplish anything in life. This person strives for mediocrity.
Person Two: will see and focus their energy on the tiny fraction of possibility, and will find a way to make things happen. This person strives for greatness.
which one are you?
why let 2 letters keep greatness from happening?
don't let 2 letters be your mask to hide behind.

Perspective

Everything happens for a reason and how It needs to so that we can reach our full potential in life. Our agency allows us to chose how we get there. some take the easy road and others the hard because we are all different and learn in our own way. I learn vicariously through others mostly, but others have to go and do in order to understand, consequences and all. life's not all peaches and cream and nobody's perfect. we pick our battles in life and what's worth our time. as long as you let the Lord play his part in all your decisions and have faith in him you'll never be lead astray. know yourself. trust yourself. trust your heart and the spirit of the Lord to be your guide.

Step beyond your zone of comfort

When I told a new acquaintance that I get stage fright and can't do any sort of performance in front of groups exceeding the number of 5 people they're response was utter shock.
they told me that I was the most outspoken and friendly person they knew and couldn't believe I could possibly have any such shyness.
oh, yes I could...
I haven't always been "miss talks to everyone, can I be your friend."
believe you me it's been a long time coming and some serious work to get to where I am today.
what really is there to fear in speaking up?
to say hello to a stranger...
what's the worst to happen?
rejection?
if that's the worst conclusion, if you really think about it, you just back to square one.
square one being not knowing them. Where's the loss?
there's plenty of other people in the world
if one doesn't respond to your liking move on and look at it as their loss.
quality people not quantity if you ask my opinion.
life can be simple and very fulfilling if you allow it to be.
use your filter and find the gems.
they are out there.
so, refine your eyes and ears and your collection can become priceless and of rare beauty.

whatchu thinking???

At what point in life does one realize their affinity for hot pink?
a few days ago I had yet another pink flamingo man sighting.
from head to toe he's decked out in hot pink
his hair is pink
hat-pink
clothes..
Fanny pack..
shoes...
everything.
wow!
Now, all those who know me are aware of my affinity for nerds and also midgets.
I've always had the one for nerds but the midget thing is a recent occurrence.
something about the One Man Dinner and Hatch's Chocolate shop on E St....
or maybe it's the obsession with the Wizard of Oz that I had when I was very young...
who knows?
what goes through a grown man's mind while getting dressed that would make him think that hot pink was definitely his season?
to be cont'd....

speak into the mic

for the longest time i felt the things i had to say were not of any importance to anyone else.
in response to this i chose to be silent.
what a waste!
i've recently found my voice.
my thoughts are valid and are being heard.
not only heard but listened to.
liberation!!!!!
thank you to those open ears.

Class Dismissed

i've come to realize that everyday is a new beginning. A clean start is always best.
wisdom from the day before carries over and it builds.
i consider myself a student of life.
my eyes are open to all there is to learn and i ask the questions that need to be asked and answered.
one of the most important ones that i feel is WHY?
this is how i continue to be a student.
each new experience is another chapter in the book i like to call life.
people add the colors that we see and help us along the way to find ourselves.
if we make a conscious effort to get to know everyone our picture only becomes brighter and more clear.
my challenge to others is to be sincere and be the first to say hello.
don't stop yourself from possibly making the best friend you've ever met by not saying something.

The View

off in the distance the sky is red like fire as if the mountain are a blaze.
the sun is setting.
the last rays are piercing through.
the clouds move and change so swiftly.
in seconds it's gone.
it's night.

True Colors

other than the scientific reasons, why is it that when most things in life are passing on their true colors come out?
take Autumn for example:
trees all look the same up until autumn comes and then they turn all sorts of colors, their TRUE colors if you will.
Compare this to life.
A person you know seems perfectly fine one moment then you find out that they have some terminal ailment. That person is now faced with a choice aren't they, live out their days the best way they know how or be miserable and make everyone miserable around them.
i'd want for the first to be my choice.
I'd want to be the tree that changes to all sorts of colors that contrast the others bringing great awe and beauty to the world.

Walk like you mean it

Do you dare bust a move?
walking down the street
with your headphones on
a dance worthy song is rockin
Do you fight it?
I declare, ROCK IT!
what's it going to hurt?
what's the worst it could do?
it would be a shame to waste a perfect groove on a bland stride.
CAUTION:
beware you may cause rubber necking, could result in collision's !

Polar Bear Anyone?

You turn on the tube and for what reason...
so, there's this show
you're hooked
it's ridiculous
honestly, what's its appeal? I don't get it...
if anything it frustrates you more than anything
but you still watch it...
some of the characters are bland, it's all scattered, people die off all the time, new people show up out of nowhere like they've always been there...
I'm so LOST...

Scattered Memories

Like an attic the webs form in the corners of his mind. Memories stored in boxes marked in sharpie faded to illegible. He sees faces in old pictures that have a familiarity but he can't place from where or why...
sometimes the rays from the windows catch something new to bring to focus but only for a brief moment and then it's gone.. Where am I? Who am I? What yr is it? Is what goes through his mind...
It's 20 yrs ago for him and where's his brother? He asks.. He has to take me to work. I'm going to be late.
Grandpa it's me. Where are you? It's 2006 and we're not in Kansas.
He's a fighter.
time passes and he's still here.
his body is shutting down but he holds on.
There she is! His grand daughter, where have you been? I'm so happy that you're here.
He sleeps unmoved.
It's time is whispered into her ear.
It's ok, they're all waiting for you.
you don't have to fight anymore.
We love you.

1..2..3..4..5..

where do we go from here?
connect the dots and what picture is it making?
sometimes it's easy to see the next point but others seems to take forever and you just keep shuffling things around until you hit it eventually.
if we go in the wrong direction will Mikey Mouse end up with 3 ears?
can't have that.
